KINDERFEST AND OKTOBERFEST
OCTOBER 22 @ 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM FREE
Come out for family-friendly Oktoberfest! The evening kicks off with Kinderfest from 4:00pm-6:0pm, a fun festival for children and families to enjoy. There will be fun crafts and a Halloween costume show-off. Following Kinderfest, There will be traditional Oktoberfest activities from 6:00pm-9:00pm featuring German music by The Mountain Top Polka Band. Food and beverages will be available to purchase throughout the day. Picnic baskets are allowed; however, outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

Get ready for the Halloween edition of “Time with Tain!” This one-man comedic circus show featuring a variety of colorful juggling props and interactive elements.

Tain, also known as “Tain the Knife Juggler,” impresses audiences of all ages with an assortment of awesome juggling skills including balls, clubs, knives, feathers, fruit and fire! His energetic personality shines on any stage, big or small, keeping onlookers riveted.

South Carolina Jazz Festival: Cheraw, SC

Not many towns can boast of having a native son that was invited to perform at the White House by eight presidents from Dwight Eisenhower to George Bush.
Jazz king John Birks “Dizzy” Gillespie was born in Cheraw in 1917. “Dizzy” was a founder of modern jazz, an innovative trumpeter known for his bent horn, bulging cheeks and sense of humor. Gillespie, who was famous around the world, almost always opened his performances with “I’m Dizzy Gillespie from Chee-raw, South Carolina.”

On the 85th anniversary of his birth, a seven-foot bronze statue of Gillespie playing his trademark bent horn was erected on the Cheraw Town Green. The Dizzy Gillespie Home Site Park also celebrates Cheraw’s most famous son. The park features modern sculpture, eclectic stainless steel benches and a funky stainless steel fence.

34th Annual Thad & Alice Eure Walk for Hope: Raleigh, NC

In the 33 years since it began, this flagship charity event has helped raise millions of dollars towards better understanding of and treatments of mental illnesses like depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, postpartum depression, schizophrenia and anorexia.

Each year, thousands of participants come together at the Angus Barn in Raleigh to walk or run a 5K route to show solidarity for family, friends and community members living with a mental illness. After the walk is over, we celebrate our achievement with a family-friendly afternoon of food, games, music and prizes.

Can’t make it this year, or prefer to walk or run with us from afar? You can still make an impact by joining us VIRTUALLY instead or making a DONATION! It’s more important than ever to support mental illness research right here in the Triangle.

100% of the money raised by participants directly funds local mental illness research at the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Psychiatry. And, just as critically, it helps call attention to the stigma and significance of these often invisible illnesses, which now due to the pandemic affect as many as one in three American adults.

Your passion helps touch more and more lives in our community, across our nation, and around the world. Your dedication leads to record-breaking goals in numbers and funds raised. We believe research is hope, and hope keeps us moving forward.

Join us on Friday, September 23 at 7pm for the 11th annual Imagination Ball. Imagination Ball is Marbles’ signature grown-up gala, raising money to ensure that every child has the chance to imagine, discover, learn and PLAY at Marbles.

After two years in a virtual format, Imagination Ball 2022 is back in-person at Marbles – one of downtown Raleigh’s most unique party venues. This year’s theme – Adventure Awaits – will take party guests on an extraordinary journey, featuring spectacular decor, creative eats & drinks, a one-of-a-kind auction, exciting games of chance and legendary live music.

15th Annual Pepperfest: Pittsboro, NC

We will celebrate outside @ The Plant, a 16-acre eco-industrial park of likeminded businesses and surrounded by nature on occupied Tuscarora land.

We will host around 1,000 folks who enjoy vibrant connection, live music and filling up on delicious pepper-themed dishes and beverages made with delicious, locally grown sweet, hot and smoky NC peppers. Chefs & Beverage makers compete for awards. Foodies taste all the different dishes made from peppers grown in the Piedmont of North Carolina.
