Downtown Raleigh Alliance celebrates Women’s History Month with Busker Series at March First Friday: Raleigh, NC
Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) announces a new activation during March First Friday in honor of Women’s History Month. This Friday, March 6, four female performers will be stationed along Glenwood Avenue outside First Friday member venues as part of the monthly First Friday celebration of Downtown Raleigh’s art and culture.
Following community feedback for more live performances and connections between venues, DRA Placemaking and Activations Manager David Moore developed a special events program for First Friday to better activate the street and keep attendees engaged as they walk throughout the district.
“Activations can be a fun and unexpected way to bring the celebration of art and culture out of the venues and into the wider community,” Moore said. “For this activation, we wanted to use First Friday as an opportunity to better showcase and celebrate the talented regional female artists and musicians.”
An Imagine Circus performer will be roaming between The Carter Building and Tin Roof from 7pm-8pm with her LED hoops. Her performances lend a magic to the evening that’s hard to describe until you’ve seen it in person.
