Go Outside Fest: Roanoke, VA @ Rivers Edge Sports Complex

The Go Outside Festival, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, is an annual event to encourage healthy, active outside recreation. By combining the things outdoor enthusiasts love – camping, music, gear, races, and demos all in a beautiful outdoor setting – GO Fest is a celebration of everything outdoors. Roanoke GO Fest is a partnership between the nonprofit Roanoke Outside Foundation and the City of Roanoke Department of Parks and Recreation.

Watch pro BMX stunt shows, learn to fly fish, demo a mountain bike, test your balance on a slackline, try out some climbing shoes, learn some wilderness first aid, test your balance on a SUP, crawl into your tent, enjoy a craft beer or two, listen to killer music, then wake up the next morning and try something new. Ride a big wheel, learn how to fix your outdoor gear, enter the Wild Gear Chase, watch the lumberjack show, watch the ultimate air dogs, build a custom headlamp, chill out in an ENO hammock, play around of disc golf, enjoy a beer or two while listen to music, crawl into your tent, then wake up the next morning and try something new.

As fellow outdoor sports enthusiasts, we aspire to share our love and passion for outdoor recreation with the entire world! GO Fest is fully funded by our wonderful sponsors, so when given the chance… SUPPORT THEM!

30th Annual Thad & Alice Eure Walk/Run for Hope: Raleigh, NC @ The Angus Barn
Oct 14 all-day
30th Annual Thad & Alice Eure Walk/Run for Hope: Raleigh, NC @ The Angus Barn

In the nearly 30 years since it began, this flagship charity event has helped raise millions of dollars towards better understanding—and, eventually, maybe even curing—illnesses like depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, postpartum depression, schizophrenia, and anorexia. 100% of the money raised by participants directly funds local mental health research at the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Psychiatry. And, as critically, it helps call attention to the stigma and significance of these often invisible illnesses, which affect as many as 1 in 5 American adults.

Each year, thousands of participants come together at the Angus Barn in Raleigh to show solidarity for family, friends, and community members living with a mental illness. After the walk is over, we celebrate our achievement with a family-friendly afternoon of food, games, music, and prizes.

Every step gives us hope, and hope keeps us moving forward. In 2018, we’ll strive to go further, and do more, than ever before. We’d be so pleased to have you walk beside us.

What does HOME mean to you?

“Is it in the streets, fields, and forests where you grew up? Or does it rest in the warm embrace of a loved one after a long day? Of all the places we plant our roots, few things bring us HOME in our hearts like music. The strum of a guitar, the beat of a drum, the echoing chorus of a favorite song… Music holds a way of guiding us to a place of inner peace, joy and sanctuary unlike anything in this world. For 24 years, LEAF has thrived as a community born of friendships, memories, and cultural celebration.. and for the 47th LEAF, we will take that legacy one step further welcoming artists from nations who find their homes in great peril, yet despite all odds continue to share their music, message, and medicine with us all. Join us this FALL where three generations of families hailing from the four corners of the Globe will gather to celebrate the power of music & arts to “Bring Us Home” as ONE Family once again.“
